Gather Around the Campfire in Ontario County This Summer
Here’s
just a sampling of the camping opportunities in Ontario County.
The Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill, located on Route 64
near Bristol, is situated on 410 acres of woods and open land with
tent and trailer campsites (some with electricity), pavilions, ball
diamonds, fishing pond, picnic sites, hiking trails and spectacular
scenery. The Park is part of the
Finger
Lakes Trail Conference, a footpath for hikers that stretches 560
miles from the PA/NY border, crossing the Finger Lakes Region, and
ending in the Catskills. Campers will enjoy taking in the incredible
views from “Jump Off”, Ontario County’s highest point, located
within the park.
Wilderness and
wildlife trails take center stage at
Bristol
Woodland Campground, located at 4835 South Hill Road in
Bristol. Eighty-one sites on 100 acres in the heart of
Bristol Hills, cabin rentals, a large pool, playground and fishing
pond combine to make this camping experience very special. Nestled
in the woods near Bloomfield, New York campers will find 40 large
sites at
Creekside Campsite & RV Park. With Creekside as your
headquarters, all the attractions of the Finger Lakes Region are
close at hand. And after a busy day of sightseeing it is “so good to
come home” to Creekside.
Campers at
Cheerful Valley Campground, located on Route 14 in Phelps just ¾
of a mile north of NYS Thruway exit #42, have plenty of reasons to
smile. Large grass sites for RVs, campers and tents give everyone
lots of room to relax and enjoy. There are 130 sites with electric
and water hookups, but it never feels crowded. If you don’t have a
tent or camper, come and stay in one of the two log cabins on site –
each with a front porch. A large swimming pool and access to fishing
on Canandaigua Outlet make this a great place to take the kids.
The
KOA
Canandaigua, located on Farmington Town Line Road in
Farmington, offers excellent facilities for the camping family.
With 120 sites to accommodate everything from tents to big rigs, 10
cabins, mini-golf, a fishing pond, game room, bike and boat rentals,
plus internet connections, it is easy to see why this is a favorite
place for campers.
Its convenient
location near NYS Thruway exit #44 only adds to the list of reasons
to stay here.
